Abstract
This report presents an overview of fertilizer statistics in Mali from 2019 to 2023, focusing on data validated by the Fertilizer Technical Working Group - Mali (FTWG-MLI) for the year 2023. The analysis includes key aspects such as production, imports, exports, consumption, and the origins of fertilizers. In 2023, Mali's fertilizer imports increased by 9% compared to 2022, driven by a resurgence in demand for raw materials, particularly for cotton production. Organic fertilizer production experienced a slight decline but remained stable compared to pre-COVID levels, attributed to ongoing subsidy programs. Notably, the report highlights that Russia remains a significant supplier despite geopolitical challenges, while Burkina Faso emerged as the main export destination.
