AbstractThis material provides an overview of the fertilizer statistics in Nigeria from 2019 to 2023, with a major focus on 2023. Analysis is based on products with the largest quantity. Currently, there are three urea production plants in Nigeria: Notore, Indorama, and Dangote. An increase of 6% was recorded in 2023. Fertilizer imports increased by 12% from 2022 to 2023. However, there was a decrease in exports from 268,632 MT in 2022 to 242,661 MT in 2023 due to challenges with gas supply. In terms of fertilizer consumption, an increase of 26% was experienced. From the statistics, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. Since limestone makes up roughly 26% of NPK blends, it is imperative that limestone (filler) data be included in the validation process going forward. This is because the number of limestone companies is increasing. 2. While raw material prices have dropped on the global market, local price reductions in naira have been hampered by exchange rate concerns. 3. To address the issue of sufficient urea availability in Nigeria, a committee made up of FTWG members must draft a policy document on the subject of fertilizer (urea), which will be presented to the Senate, the President, the Vice President, and the Minister of Agriculture. 4. The federal government should work with FEPSAN to regulate their activities.
