Abstract
This report provides a comprehensive overview of fertilizer statistics in Uganda from 2018 to 2022. It emphasizes the trends observed in 2022, particularly focusing on the major fertilizer products by volume. The analysis is grounded on official trade data sourced from the Uganda Revenue Authority, validated by the Fertilizer Technical Working Group. Key sections include production, import and export analysis, consumption patterns, and the origins of fertilizers. Notably, there is no primary production of mineral fertilizers in Uganda, with imports primarily comprising NPK and Urea. The report discusses the impact of the fertilizer subsidy program on agricultural inputs, which ended in the first season of 2022, contributing to a significant decline in fertilizer imports and apparent consumption in 2022. The findings underscore the challenges facing the Ugandan fertilizer market and the implications for agricultural productivity.
