Abstract
This factsheet examines the demand for fertilizer in Ghana for the year 2020, highlighting the seasonal variations in fertilizer use across key crops. The analysis delineates the major season (long rains) featuring crops such as cassava, maize, millet, sorghum, and rice, alongside the minor season (short rains) with similar crop types. The report identifies critical periods for fertilizer application corresponding to the sowing, growing, and harvesting stages, revealing peak demand trends. Historical data from 2011 to 2020 reflects significant reliance on NPK fertilizers, which constituted 48% of total consumption, followed by urea and various other nutrient types.
