Abstract
This material provides a comprehensive overview of fertilizer statistics in Tanzania from 2018 to 2022, with supplementary data for January to May 2023. It emphasizes the production, importation, exportation, and consumption of fertilizers, focusing particularly on the year 2022. Key findings include an 11% decline in domestic fertilizer production in 2022, contrasted by a significant 59% increase in imports due to an enhanced digitized fertilizer subsidy program. The report details the origins of imported fertilizers, predominantly Urea, DAP, and NPK, and outlines the apparent consumption trends, which surged by 79% from the previous year. The validation of data was conducted by the Fertilizer Technical Working Group in July 2023, ensuring accuracy and reliability. This analysis serves to inform stakeholders in the agricultural sector, highlighting the dynamics of fertilizer use in Tanzania.
