| Abstract | The 2024 Technical Working Group (FTWG) Workshop in Côte d'Ivoire, organized by AfricaFertilizer, marked a pivotal moment for stakeholders in the fertilizer sector. Held on March 22, 2024, the workshop aimed to validate national fertilizer statistics and apparent consumption data for 2023. Key highlights included a substantial increase in fertilizer imports, which rose by 78% to 613,527 MT, and a 26% rise in exports, reaching 165,113 MT. Apparent consumption surged by 92%, driven by recovery in farmer demand following a decline in international prices. Participants emphasized the need for enhanced data collection on fertilizer formulas and proposed establishing a non-disclosure agreement to facilitate data sharing among private companies. | |
