AbstractThis document highlights the significance of fertilizer in addressing food security challenges in Africa and presents the upcoming Africa Fertilizer Summit scheduled for June 2006 in Abuja, Nigeria. The Summit aims to gather African heads of state, policymakers, private companies, farmer organizations, and donor organizations to discuss strategies for increasing efficient fertilizer use and developing an African Fertilizer Action Plan. The objective is to improve access to fertilizer for millions of poor farmers, boost farm production, and achieve food security. Additionally, the document covers IFDC's efforts in promoting agricultural revolution in Africa, including the Travis P. Hignett Memorial Lecture, international training programs on agricultural systems and enterprises, and initiatives in Afghanistan and Togo to enhance agricultural development and market systems. The publication also highlights IFDC's partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture through the Food for Progress Program to monetize soybean oil for agricultural revitalization and market development projects.
