| Abstract | The International Fertilizer Development Centre (IFDC), through its AfricaFertilizer.org (AFO) initiative, collaborates with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to enhance the quality and availability of fertilizer statistics in Africa. This report details a workshop held in Lusaka, Zambia, from August 30 to September 1, 2022, which aimed to validate fertilizer statistics for the years 2014 to 2022 and introduce the Visualizing Insights on Fertilizer for African Agriculture (VIFAA) dashboard. Participants from various sectors, including public and private entities, contributed to discussions on Zambia’s fertilizer market, the impact of government subsidy programs, and strategies to address the ongoing global fertilizer crisis, particularly in light of challenges posed by the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The outcomes included validated statistics and recommendations for improving data collection processes and policy frameworks. | |
