Abstract
With a focus on their characteristics, yields, and suitability for different growing conditions, this material provides an overview on cassava varieties. The varieties discussed include TMS 98/0505, TME 419, TMS 98/0581, and TMS 30572, all of which are resistant to Cassava Mosaic Disease (CMD) and have been developed by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). Each variety is assessed based on factors such as plant height, branching habits, suitability for mixed cropping, maturity duration, and average yield in different fertilization scenarios. Additionally, the document highlights the dry matter content of the cassava roots, which is crucial for their use in cooking. Variations in yield, disease resistance, and susceptibility to environmental stress factors like drought and rodents are discussed for each variety, offering valuable insights into their performance under various conditions.
