| Abstract | This report summarizes a workshop organized by the International Fertilizer Development Centre (IFDC) under the AfricaFertilizer.org (AFO) initiative, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) CountrySTAT program. Held on May 19-20, 2021, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the workshop aimed to validate fertilizer statistics for 2019 and 2020, update historical data from 2010 to 2020, and inform participants about ongoing country fertilizer programs. With participants from Ghana, Kenya, and Tanzania, the workshop facilitated discussions on national fertilizer trade data and the methodology for data validation. Highlights include a review of Tanzania’s fertilizer production, imports, exports, and apparent consumption, as well as insights into the Bulk Procurement System (BPS). The workshop underscored the importance of reliable fertilizer data for policymakers to enhance agricultural strategies, improve food security, and promote regional fertilizer trade. | |
