Abstract
Psalms Food Industries Limited (PFIL), in collaboration with the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) under the REACHUganda project, has significantly enhanced its potato crisps production capabilities. Formerly constrained by outdated equipment and limited space, PFIL expanded its factory area to 213 square meters and installed modern processing machinery. This upgrade has boosted daily output from 600 kgs to 1,000 kgs of potato crisps. The strategic partnership with IFDC, supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Uganda, aimed to improve product quality, extend shelf life, and enhance market visibility. PFIL's investment in new equipment, including a semi-automatic production line and advanced packaging machinery, has increased production speed and capacity. As a result, PFIL now produces 22 metric tons of potato crisps monthly, marking a 66% increase. This growth has not only met local market demands but also facilitated exports to Kenya. Moreover, the initiative has created employment opportunities, with PFIL's workforce expanding from 75 to 109 employees.
