Abstract | This report summarizes the essential findings and outcomes of two training workshops conducted by the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC). The first workshop focused on policy issues affecting the development of the fertilizer sector and sustainable agriculture in developing countries. Policymakers from various countries and international organizations attended the workshop to gain insights and exchange ideas on tackling policy challenges. The second workshop addressed plant nutrient management for sustainable agriculture, emphasizing the efficient use of fertilizers while minimizing environmental impact. The workshops highlighted the importance of appropriate policies, modern agricultural techniques, and the role of fertilizers in increasing crop production. The report underscores the need for a conducive policy environment and a dynamic approach tailored to each country's social, economic, and ecological conditions. Ultimately, the workshops aimed to promote awareness among policymakers, donors, researchers, and sector specialists about the impact of governmental policies on fertilizer sector development and sustainable agriculture in developing countries. | |
