Abstract
This material introduces the concept of weed pests, explaining their characteristics, types, and the challenges they pose to crops. Weeds are defined as plants that grow where they shouldn't, competing for the same resources (nutrients, water, and soil) as crops. They can significantly reduce crop yield by rapidly growing and producing large amounts of seeds. The two main types of weeds—broadleaf and grass weeds—are discussed, alongside three key methods of weed control: mechanical, chemical, and mulching. The resource emphasizes the importance of understanding these types of weeds and control methods for better weed management in agriculture.
