AbstractEfficient nursery management ensures healthy and vigorous seedlings for transplanted vegetable crops. This document discusses the benefits of using a pro-tray nursery system, explicitly highlighting the advantages offered by this modern approach. The pro tray nursery method, implemented under the Assam Agri-Business and Rural Transformation Project (APART), funded by the World Bank, offers several advantages such as high seed germination rates, shorter seedling development time, protection against pests and diseases, minimal root damage during transplantation, rapid field establishment, accessible transportation, reduced fertilizer and irrigation requirements, and uniform plant growth. In contrast, the conventional nursery method is also discussed, outlining the significant steps involved, including site selection, soil preparation, seed treatment, nursery bed preparation, and sowing of seeds. However, the conventional method lacks some of the advantages the pro tray system offers, such as improved seedling quality, reduced labor and land requirements, and enhanced profitability. By comparing these two approaches, farmers and stakeholders can make informed decisions regarding nursery management practices, considering crop type, resource availability, and economic viability. The document also highlights the need for proper care and attention during the early stages of vegetable crop production, emphasizing the benefits of using modern nursery techniques like the pro tray system
