Abstract | Seed treatment, also known as seed dressing, is the process of applying chemical substances to seeds to protect them from insects, fungi, and other plant diseases that could hinder their growth. This protective coating helps ensure that seeds remain safe during germination and that young seedlings develop into healthy plants. The main benefits of treated seeds include higher germination rates, stronger and healthier plants, better yields, and enhanced protection against pests and diseases. Although treated seeds are more expensive than untreated ones, their higher yields and improved crop quality make them a worthwhile investment. Treated seeds are identifiable by their color and labeling, and they must be handled with care, similar to other pesticides. This material aims to inform agri-input dealers and farmers about the advantages of seed treatment and its role in improving agricultural productivity. | |
