Abstract
On January 25, 2024, HortiNigeria organized a pivotal meeting with Abbas Umar Masanawa, Managing Director/CEO of NIRSAL Plc. This encounter underscored a significant stride towards collaboration and innovation in Nigeria's horticulture sector, emphasizing financial inclusion. Key insights into NIRSAL Plc's operational status within HortiNigeria's target states were explored to align strategies and enhance program efficiency. The discussions centered on developing a tailored credit instrument to empower smallholder farmers and MSMEs within the horticulture value chain. The collaboration promises substantial benefits, including the co-creation of financial solutions and leveraging NIRSAL’s models like geo-cooperatives and agricultural land estates. Policy advocacy and development, particularly in taxation, were also highlighted, with HortiNigeria eager to contribute.
