AbstractThis report highlights the positive results of the Phosphate Project conducted in Mali. The project aimed to compare the effectiveness of indigenous phosphate rock with complex fertilizers on farmers' fields. The experiments were carried out in collaboration with the Institut d'Economie Rurale and sponsored by the World Bank and the International Development Research Centre. Farmer Kadda Dembele, who participated in the experiments, reported better yields and reduced drought stress when using phosphate rock compared to conventional fertilizer. The findings were confirmed by Pierre Rosseau, IFDC Tropical Agronomist, and his counterparts. The report emphasizes the potential of phosphate rock as a beneficial alternative for farmers in Mali.
