AbstractProper disposal of empty agri-input packages is crucial for protecting the environment, human health, and animal safety. This sheet outlines four approved methods for disposing of these packages in line with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) guidelines. The methods include using licensed incinerators, recycling, burying in a disposal pit, and returning the packages to the importer for proper destruction. It also highlights the dangers of using on-farm incinerators, which are no longer recommended due to their inability to burn materials thoroughly and the toxic smoke they produce. This session provides agro-dealers and farmers with the knowledge to manage empty agri-input packages responsibly, ensuring a safer environment and reducing contamination risks.
