Abstract
The "Accelerating Farm Incomes (AFI): Building Sustainable Soil Health, Markets, and Productivity in Telangana State, India" is a project funded by the Walmart Foundation and executed by the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC). The project aims to increase crop productivity, promote market-driven agriculture, and improve farmers' incomes in Telangana State, India, through technology dissemination, knowledge sharing, and micro-enterprise development. The project focuses on site-specific technologies, access to viable marketing pathways, and capacity building for communities, particularly women and youth. The project aims to establish sustainable production systems based on market demand and involve resource-poor farmers, private-sector extension agents, input suppliers, and output buyers. The AFI project is implemented mainly in the peri-urban agriculture (PUA) areas of Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, and Medak districts in Telangana State, India. The project's progress report for Year 2 (October 2020 to September 2021) describes the planned activities, outputs, and outcomes achieved under the AFI project. The project aims to create competitive and sustainable markets for stakeholders in the agribusiness value chain involving agribusiness inputs, outputs, and technologies, with a vision aligned with the Walmart Foundation's vision.
