AbstractThis report assesses the distribution of fertilizers in Kenya and explores opportunities for developing fertilizer blends to address crop-specific nutrient demands. It examines the availability of soils data, fertilizer use patterns, and the emergence of multi-nutrient fertilizers in the market. The analysis includes recommendations for staple crops such as maize, sorghum, pulses, and potatoes, considering their nutrient requirements and agro-ecological zones. Key gaps in translating soils data into actionable insights and challenges in fertilizer distribution systems are identified. The report proposes interventions to improve fertilizer availability, promote quality blends, and address distribution bottlenecks, with a focus on leveraging partnerships and building capacity in the fertilizer sector.
