    This register provides information about operational fertilizer manufacturing and processing facilities in Sub-Saharan Africa as of January 2017. It includes data on 15 manufacturing plants and 47 processing plants. The manufacturing plants are divided into two categories: manufacturing plants that undergo chemical reactions to produce fertilizers, such as Urea, Ammonium Nitrate, and Phosphoric Acid plants, and processing plants that use pre-manufactured products to formulate end-use products, such as blending and steam granulation plants. The register also covers lime supplement and micro-nutrient producers and proposed projects under construction or expected to be operational in the next five years. The listed production capacities are name-plate capacities, not operational capacities.
